Airplane tickets contain important information that most customers don't know, they only care about seat numbers, exit gates and the time they need to be present to board the plane.

PNR

PNR is a 6-character code consisting of numbers and letters, generated by the airline's computer system. This is an airline's internal Booking Reference or identifier for the flight. These 6 characters appear when the airline confirms a successful booking request.

Airline staff will use these characters to access the system, grasp reservation information and additional requests from passengers, if any.

SSSS

If you are traveling within the United States, you may see SSSS printed on your boarding pass. SSS is the acronym for "Secondary Security Screening Selection". The presence of this line on a flight ticket means that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the US Department of Homeland Security have randomly selected that passenger for additional security screening.

At that time, all belongings and items inside passengers' bags and suitcases may be taken out and inspected both inside and out.

S/O

The S/O code on the airline ticket indicates a connecting flight or transit. S/O can be replaced by SPTC code if the transit point is longer than a few hours.

SEQ

SEQ XXX on airline tickets indicates the order in which passengers check in for the flight. SEQ 001 is the first passenger to check-in.

Flight number

The flight number represents the specific flight the guest will be flying. For example, the airline ticket has the symbol VJ543, which means the passenger will fly on flight number 543 of Vietjet Air.

Airport code

Passenger departure and arrival airports are designated by three-letter codes. For example, HAN is Noi Bai airport and SNG is Tan Son Nhat airport.

Seats

Seat or seat number is often represented by a combination of letters and numbers, to indicate the passenger's seat. If the ticket has the character 16A, it means the passenger is sitting in row number 16, seat A.
