TestFlight will be updated with a new interface later this year

TestFlight is probably no stranger to iPhone users, especially those who regularly use test versions of applications.

This is Apple's platform that allows developers to distribute beta versions of apps to users outside of the App Store. Following announcements at WWDC 2024 this week, including iOS 18 and macOS 15 Sequoia, Apple has teased a major update coming to TestFlight later this year.

New points in TestFlight

During the WWDC 2024 event, when talking about new features in App Store Connect, the platform used to distribute applications to the App Store. Apple has briefly introduced TestFlight's new interface. The app has been redesigned to be easier to use, with an interface similar to the App Store.

Specifically, testers will now see descriptions and screenshots of beta apps. This will help users better understand the app they are about to test. Currently, TestFlight only shows developer notes about what needs to be tested.

Besides, TestFlight also has new features, such as Tester Criteria to filter objects for the beta version of the application.

With Tester Criteria, developers can distribute beta apps to specific devices and iOS versions to test behavior. Multiple criteria can be set up simultaneously, and they work for both private invites and public TestFlight links.

Apple has not yet announced details about the official launch date of the new TestFlight. It's worth noting that iOS 18 is currently in beta and expected to officially release this fall, so it's likely that Apple will release the new TestFlight around that time.

In addition to the TestFlight update, Apple has also added several new features to App Store Connect and Apple Search Ads to help developers promote their apps - including automatically generated stories that can be shared on Instagram or other platforms. You can watch the entire session on the Apple Developer website.
