Store 10 GB online for free
A company called Streamload is providing customers with multimedia file storage areas 10 times larger than Google's Gmail. This guest line has more or less made free giants like Yahoo and AOL worry about snoring.
Streamload service allows customers to share files saved on the system, like Yahoo Photos. Previously, this often meant the exchange of pirated content such as music, movies and software. However, Streamload stated they had a way to handle this situation.
In addition, subscribers to Streamload 10 GB storage service can only download 100 MB per month and upload 100 MB / time. If paying 10 USD / month, customers will be eased by these restrictions. Service will officially go into operation from next Monday (January 18).
Previously, Streamload only provided a fee-based hosting service and was one of the few businesses that survived this type of business during the dotcom crisis. Steve Iverson, the company's chief executive, said their 10 GB service was previously limited to a number of professional computer users, but is now open to anyone who wants to store files. MP3 music and digital photos online.
The emergence of a large free service of Streamload partly reflects the race between the trend of reducing the price of storage tools such as computer hard drives and enhancing the convenience of online storage. Many experts believe that when all devices are connected to the network, local storage becomes unnecessary. Others argue that the price of hard drives is getting lower while the capacity is constantly increasing by hundreds of GB, meaning that storing data on personal computers will be more efficient and attractive to users.
Last week AOL announced to provide subscribers with a 100 MB free online storage box. Another company called Xdrive is also deploying a 5 GB service, in which the customer will be trialed (trial) for 15 days then have to pay 10 USD / month.
