Standard new SD Express memory card format, maximum capacity of 128TB
SD Card Association has launched the latest SD memory card standard, the premium version of the popular SD Express standard. Accordingly, an SD memory card is added with PCI Expree and NVMe interface to allow storage capacity to increase to 128TB and data transfer rate of 985 MB / s. With SD Express, SD cards will become portable SSDs.
This is a big jump from the current SD 6.0 standard with a maximum capacity of 2TB and a maximum speed of 624 MB / s.
SD Express format will allow us to store more than 25,000 HD movies on a memory card. If the typical image size is 500kB, only 2 SD Express cards are enough to store all 35 million tracks in the Spotify library.
SD Express memory card has an EX I sign to distinguish it from the old memory card standard.
SD Express card with large storage space, high transfer rate is an important step to support 360-degree and 8K video recording technologies.
