OPPO's new technology allows calling, texting without mobile network or WiFi
At the 2019 Shanghai MWC event, besides the first prototype of a smartphone with a hidden camera under the screen, OPPO also introduced a completely new and exclusive technology called MeshTalk, allowing users to call Power, texting without mobile network, WiFi or Bluetooth.
OPPO's new MeshTalk is an end-to-end protocol, capable of operating in an outdoor 3km radius, if there are multiple devices within the network, the range will be even further.
Basically, OPPO devices can create a local area network with coverage within a certain range. The coverage area will become wider and wider when there are many devices in the same network because OPPO devices can also become intermediate stations, helping to connect between two other devices.
Therefore, two OPPPO devices located in each other's coverage area can communicate directly with each other without the need for a mobile network or WiFi connection.
OPPO said that the battery life of the device will not be affected by MeshTalk. Even its new protocol can operate in standby mode for 72 hours, allowing users to make emergency calls when batteries are running low.
The new OPPO feature will be extremely useful in cases where the mobile network is congested or for those traveling to places where cellular waves are unstable and do not have wifi.
Currently, OPPO has not yet announced when it will be put into practice.
