A battle we are losing - The war that we lost
The photo shows the Milky Way above a small radio telescope in Beijing, China. Light pollution and electromagnetic interference make many astronomical observatories and radio stations near big cities become both blind and deaf.
Auroral Crown - Aurora crown
Photographer Yulia Zhulikova captures the moment the Northern aurora rolls on snow-covered branches in the city of Murmansk (Russia). Under the light of the street lamp, the branches glowed with a vivid pink and strange beauty.
Crescent Moon over the Needles - Crescent moon on the Needles lighthouse
Thanks to the sunlight reflected from the Earth's surface, the crescent moon is clearly floating in the night sky, above the Needles lighthouse on the western tip of Wight Island. This is the work of photographer Ainsley Bennett.
Eastern prominence - Eastern fire
The fire of the Sun - the prominence fence (including many small prominence like the wild and wild bushes) that was wide and flaming on the surface of the Sun was vividly recreated by Paul Andrew. In fact, there are many different forms of prominence from the Sun.
Fall milk - Milk poured
Photographer Brandon Yoshizawa photographed the glowing Milky Way, a snow-covered mountain below the eastern Sierra, California, near the willow forest.
Hustle and peaceful - Hustle and peace
A busy city in contrast to the peaceful starry sky, taken by Prisca Law photographer from the top of The Peak, the highest mountain on Hong Kong Island.
Ignite the light - Light up
Northern aurora at the Kvalvik beach in the Norwegian Lofoten archipelago was taken by photographer Nicolas Alexander Otto. The image is made up of six different exposures and the sky has been added from one of these exposures.
Shooting star and Jupiter - Meteor and Jupiter
The moment a shooting star passes through the sky when Jupiter is glowing in the mountains of Portland in the Dorset region. From the double exposure technique, one to the sky and one to the rocky scenes, photographer Rob Bowes has created this wonderful moment.
Daylight transit - Day and night circulation
The photo captures the ISS International Station scene moving across the Moon's surface captured by photographer Dani Caxete in daylight and without any manipulation. The sun illuminates the ISS station at an angle 9 degrees higher than the horizon. We can see ISS when the Sun is still shining.
The road back home - Road home
Beautiful sunset clouds are illuminated by the Sun across the Swedish sky captured by photographer Ruslan Merzlyakov.
Near Earth Object - A cosmic object near the Earth
Photographer Derek Robson recreated the meteorite image 164.121 (2003 YT1) flying only about 5 million kilometers from Earth on October 31, 2016.
Jellyfish Nebula - Jellyfish Nebula
IC443 has a spherical shape so it is also called the Jellyfish Nebula. IC443 is located in the constellation Gemini and is the remnant of the supernova explosion in the galaxy, a star may have exploded from 30,000 years ago.
In the picture there are many faint haze areas located at the top left of the jellyfish nebula. They are a cloud made up of many molecules of hydrogen and dust.
According to experts, what we are seeing is two nebula clouds overlapping. But from the photographer's perspective, Chris Heapy looks like a jellyfish's head (left) with another part like floating tentacles (right).
