Pok�mon GO Items Guide: What Each Item Does

Pok�mon GO items support catching, healing, hatching, evolving, battling and account progress. Most are stored in the Item Bag, while Eggs, Gifts and selected feature resources appear in their own sections. Item availability and Shop bundles can change, so read the in-game description before spending a rare item.

Pok� Balls

Pok� Balls are thrown during encounters. Great Balls and Ultra Balls provide stronger general catch performance than the standard Pok� Ball. Premier Balls are supplied for selected limited catch encounters such as raids and cannot normally be saved afterward.

The Master Ball is an extremely rare special item that prevents an eligible target from escaping. It is not a routine level-30 ball. Confirm the target carefully because using one is normally permanent.

Berries

Select a Berry from the encounter item menu, feed it to the Pok�mon and then throw a ball. If the Pok�mon breaks out, apply another Berry before the next throw when needed. Berries can also be fed to friendly Gym defenders for motivation and other rewards.

Potions, Revives, and Max Revives

Potions restore HP to a damaged Pok�mon that still has health remaining. Stronger Potion types restore more HP, while a Max Potion fills the HP bar.

A fainted Pok�mon with zero HP needs a Revive first. A standard Revive returns it with part of its HP; a Max Revive returns it and restores HP fully. Use a Potion after a standard Revive if additional healing is required.

Eggs and Incubators

Place an Egg in an Incubator and walk the distance shown to hatch it. The standard orange Incubator has unlimited uses. Many additional Incubators are limited-use items, while Super Incubators reduce the distance required.

Egg distances and possible hatches change with events and seasons. Tap an Egg to view its current pool rather than relying on an old fixed list.

Lucky Eggs and Star Pieces

A Lucky Egg increases Trainer XP earned for a limited period. Use one when several large XP rewards are ready, such as coordinated friendship milestones or a planned raid sequence.

A Star Piece increases Stardust earned for a limited period. It is most valuable when catch bonuses, hatch rewards, battle rewards or stacked Research can be claimed together. Check the item's current timer and any event extension before activating it.

Incense and Lure Modules

Incense attracts encounters to the Trainer. Movement, the Incense type and current events can affect the spawns. A Lure Module is installed on a Pok�Stop and attracts Pok�mon for nearby players.

Special Lure Modules can feature themed encounters and enable selected evolutions. Their duration may be extended during an event, so do not assume that every Incense or Lure always lasts exactly 30 minutes.

Technical Machines

Fast TMs and Charged TMs change the corresponding attack to another move in the Pok�mon's available pool. Elite TMs allow more control and may include selected event-exclusive moves. A TM does not change the Pok�mon's type or guarantee that every historical move is available.

Evolution items

Some evolutions require an item in addition to Candy. Examples of item categories include region-specific stones and classic items such as the Metal Coat or King's Rock. The Pok�mon detail page shows the exact requirement.

Some evolutions instead depend on a nearby Lure, Buddy task, trade history, time of day or another condition. Do not spend a rare item until the evolution silhouette and button match the intended result.

Raid and battle passes

Raid Passes provide entry to eligible raids. The game distinguishes among local, premium and remote access options, and restrictions can change. A battle or raid pass is consumed according to the current feature rules, so verify the lobby and intended raid before committing.

Other important resources

Rare Candy: converts into Candy for a selected family.
Rare Candy XL: a separate high-level resource.
Rocket Radar and Super Rocket Radar: used to locate specified Team GO Rocket encounters.
Poffin: affects Buddy mood and related Buddy progress.
Mega Energy: species-specific resource for Mega Evolution actions.
Max Particles: feature resource associated with Power Spots and Max Pok�mon.
Gifts: sent to friends and managed outside ordinary item use.

Managing Item Bag space

When the Item Bag is full, Pok�Stop spins may not provide normal items. Open the Bag to delete a chosen quantity of items you do not need, or use an official Bag upgrade when available. Capacity limits and upgrade amounts have changed over time, so the old 350-to-1,000 figures are not current universal limits.

What to keep depends on your goal

For a catch event, prioritize Pok� Balls and relevant Berries.
For raids, keep healing items and the required passes.
For an Egg event, preserve Incubators until the correct pool is active.
For PvP, TMs and Stardust matter more than a large Potion reserve.

Read the description, rarity and timer before using or deleting an item. Consumables are easiest to manage when the Item Bag reflects the next activity you actually plan to play.
