How to Tame a Horse in Minecraft for PC
Climb on the horse's back
Find horses. Horses are often found in the plains. This is a relatively flat grassland area with only a few trees.
Right click on the horse with your empty hand. This is the act of climbing onto a horse's back. You will probably be knocked down by the horse after a few seconds.
Continue climbing on the horse's back. Every time your horse knocks you to the ground, get back up. If you don't get knocked down by the horse, just sit still. When you see a horse with a heart, it indicates that the horse has been domesticated.
An easier way to tame a horse is to feed it apples. You can find apples by breaking blocks of oak leaves. This is done without using any other tools.
You can breed two tamed horses within close range by feeding them until they have hearts on their heads. The pony will appear after a few seconds. If you breed horses and donkeys, you will have mules.
Craft and use horse items
Manufacturing ropes. The leash is crafted from 4 spider silk strings and some slimy balls using the crafting table. You can get spider silk by killing spiders, and killing slimy monsters to get slimy balls. Slimy monsters spawn in swamp areas.
Install the rope. This is a long wire. You just need to place it in the toolbar and select the toolbox to install.
Move the cursor to the tamed horse and right-click. This is the operation of tying the lead rope to the horse. Now you can lead the horse.
Click on the fence to tie the horse. While you lead the horse, click on the fence to tie the horse. That way, the horse won't wander away.
Fences are made from wood.
Craft horse armor. This item is crafted from 7 plates of leather, iron, gold or diamond using the crafting table. Leather is obtained from killing cows. Iron, gold and diamonds must be dug up. You need to melt iron ore and gold in a furnace to create iron and gold bars.
Climb onto the back of a tamed horse and press E. This opens the inventory with a menu at the top. You can transfer items from your inventory to your horse.
Drag the horse armor into the armor slot. An armor slot with a horse head is displayed in the upper left corner of the horse's inventory window. Drag horse armor from your inventory into this slot.
Place the chest on the mule or donkey. You will place the chest in the toolbar and select the box with the chest to proceed with the operation. Right click on the mule or donkey's back. This will place the chest on that animal. The chest is crafted from 8 wooden blocks.
To open the chest, you will right-click while riding the mule/donkey.
To move the chest, right-click while riding a mule or donkey and you'll see a chest icon in the horse's armor. Remove the chest by pressing the Shift key and left clicking or dragging the chest into the inventory.
You cannot put a chest on a horse.
Get the saddle. You need a saddle to ride a horse after it has been tamed. Saddles are one of the items that cannot be crafted. You can find saddles in chests located in underground prisons or fortresses, or when going fishing.
Climb on the horse's back and press E. This is the operation to open the inventory with the horse menu above. You can transfer items in your inventory to your horse.
Drag the saddle to the horse armor box. This is the box with the saddle icon in the upper left corner of the horse inventory. This action immediately puts the saddle on the horse. After placing the saddle, you can climb on the saddle and control it with the "W", "S", "A" and "D" keys. You can also ask the horse to jump by using the spacebar.
Find the name tag. Similar to saddles, you cannot create name tags. You will find this item in chests located in the prison and in the underground fortress.
Use the anvil to carve the name tag. To engrave a name on a nametag, you must have the nametag in your inventory and right-click on the anvil. Drag the name tag to the first box on the left of the anvil menu. Click the box below "Repair and name" and delete the "Name tag" in the box. Enter the name you want to give the horse. Drag the name tag you just created in the right box into your inventory. This costs 1 enchantment point.
Name tag. Place the name tag in the toolbar and highlight in the inventory.
Move the cursor to the horse and right-click. This places the name tag on the horse and gives the horse a name. You will see the name displayed above the horse.
