How to remove the 'chat' icon on the Windows 11 taskbar

While this is a handy feature, if you're not using Microsoft Teams, you can easily hide it from the taskbar with just a few simple taps.

To remove the chat icon, or any other application icon, from the taskbar area on Windows 11, you just need to do the following simple steps. First, right-click the icon you want to delete, in this case the icon that looks like a purple text bubble, with a camera inside. Immediately an options menu will appear, click ' Hide From Taskbar '.

The selected icon will immediately disappear from the taskbar.

Alternatively, you can also open the Windows Settings menu and navigate to Personalization > Taskbar . In the ' Taskbar Items ' section, click the toggle switch to the right of the ' Chat ' option to switch it to ' Off '.

After that, close Settings and you will see this icon has disappeared from the taskbar.

Show the chat icon on the Windows 11 taskbar again

If you change your mind and want the chat icon to reappear on your taskbar, right-click on the taskbar and select ' Taskbar Settings '.

You will be taken to Personalization > Taskbar . In the ' Taskbar Items ' section, switch the ' Chat ' option to ' On '.

Immediately, the Chat icon will reappear on your taskbar.
