How to check AI activity on Windows by application
Microsoft has added a new feature in Windows 11 that allows users to monitor which applications are using the operating system's built-in AI model to generate text or images.
This feature helps users see which applications are exploiting AI on their computers and manage their access permissions.
This feature is available on Windows 11 version 24H2 (Build 26100.5074) and later. Users can view third-party applications that have used Windows' built-in AI to create images or write text. Additionally, you can set permissions for each application. Below is a detailed guide on this feature.
How to view AI activity history on Windows 11
Step 1:
Press the Win + I key combination to open Settings on your computer. Then click on the Privacy & Security group on the left side of the interface.
Next, look at the settings next to it, scroll down, and tap on Text and image generation to check which apps are using AI for image and text creation.
Step 2:
In this new interface, tap on "Recent activity" to check which applications have used AI to create text or images in the past 7 days.
If no applications are using it, 0 usage requests will be displayed.
Step 3:
To control which apps use AI to generate images and text , under "Let apps use Text and image generation," you'll see which apps are currently allowed to use AI for image and text generation. Here, you can revoke AI permissions for specific apps if needed by sliding the green toggle switch to the left to turn it off.
If you want to disable AI-powered image and text generation on Windows, simply turn off the Text and image generation setting . This will automatically disable AI usage in all underlying applications on your computer.
