Google's new Play Protect system failed from the first test
According to tests performed by Germany's AV-Test lab, Google's new Play Protect security system did not pass the test and was judged to be 'dead'.
Accordingly, Google Play Protect detected only 65.8% of new malware samples and only 79.2% of malware had a month of age. Meanwhile, mobile antivirus applications have detected 99 to 100%, except for a few cases.
This result is clearly a bad sign for what Google advertises when in the past few months, they always say that Play Protect is a reliable security system. Google first introduced Play Protect at the end of May as a service to scan Android apps on Play Store and on user devices to find malicious code.
Packed in the app on Play Store. Google said that Play Protect relies on machine learning to learn how to detect nefarious behaviors, while allowing Google to enter the device, deleting a malicious application that users don't need to do.
Play Protect officially launched when Google launched Android 8.0 Oreo at the end of last summer.
Play Protect malware detection results are very low compared to other products
Now they fall into Microsoft 's position a few years ago by Windows Defender when security experts mock this free security tool because the results aren't working in the AV lab.
