Fix IDM error without capturing MP4 file download on Chrome

We almost always have the habit of watching, listening and downloading to our computer whatever we like. From funny pictures, some good songs, or interesting video clips, even a good movie. Normally that's okay, but if a day, clip or movie you download, they are not the format that your computer software is supporting? Or worse, even though it has installed software to support download like IDM, it does not automatically download links, making you extremely frustrating.

Although I tried everything, even many people thought that IDM should have deleted and reinstalled the other version, but the situation has not improved. If intentionally downloaded, the software supports regular video playback like KMPlayer, FLV Media Player, or Media Player Classic  can not read.

Here are some ways that you can apply to improve IDM status without downloading links, especially for MP4 videos on YouTube.

Method 1: Install IDM to automatically catch links on Youtube

Method 2: Change the default settings in IDM

Open up IDM download accelerator tool. From the main interface, click on the Options tab.

The Internet Download Manager window appears , select the File types tab. Check in Automatically start downloading the following file types , see if there are formats of MP3, MP4, FLV in it? If not, you can fill in MP3, MP4, FLV in that box, then OK .

If it's still not okay, go back to the IDM Options window, and go to the General tab . Sometimes users forget to set their browser to automatically get links on online sharing pages. Check in the Capture downloads section from the following browsers , see if your browser is ticked? If not, tick it then OK .

Method 3: Turn off HTML5 on Youtube

If all of these are not successful, then the cause of this may be determined not by your IDM, nor because YouTube intentionally changes anything to make it difficult for users, but simply Maybe you or someone using your computer accidentally started HTML5 mode on Youtube. Normally, flash player will support and display videos with Mp4, FLV . But with HTML5, only MKV, or WEBM tail format is only available . To view the video clips with this extension, users will have to use other supporting software, or must convert the format with quality that is not necessarily good. It is bothersome and annoying!

You go to the option icon on the Chrome browser (3 dashes, upper corner, right browser). Find the Other Tools section - More tools, and choose to Extensions.

New interface appears, scroll down and click Download more utilities.

Chrome Web Store appears, you type the keyword Disable Youtube HTML5 Player into the search box and Enter (should tick the Utilities - Extensions box to collapse the search results). The corresponding results appear, you click Add to Chrome to proceed with the installation.
