The funny thing is that Microsoft was the first to use emoji toy guns, and then switched to real guns in 2016. When both Google and Facebook changed emoji, the image of the real gun of Microsoft will cause quite a psychological separation. Especially with other technology companies in the US, where gun violence is still a major concern.
Google has changed its gun emoji several times, from a pistol of 2012 to an antique pistol in 2013, and a revolver in 2014 and 2017, now they have switched to water guns.
