Encrypt Twitter and Facebook conversations with Keybase

There are many open source applications that allow conversation chats, but Keybase makes it different by providing social media integration into its encrypted chat service.

If you haven't used Keybase yet, you'll have to do some steps to upload the app to Facebook, Twitter, .

Install apps

The first thing you need to do is download the application to your computer. Currently, Keybase is available on Mac, Linux and Windows.

Download the Keybase application

When you open Keybase for the first time, the application will ask if you want to install it for use in Terminal. Please click Yes, Install and continue to register for a free account.

To use Keybase on social networking sites, you need to verify accounts via the desktop application. Keybase will do this by letting you post public content on Twitter, Facebook or any website you want to verify. Keybase said, you should not delete your posts because those posts are used for other users to verify it.

You can do this by accessing the profile and following the instructions for each profile. You will have to enter the username and start the process. Besides, you can revoke access if you want, or you can use Keybase to create a PGP key and add it to your profile.

Install the extension and start the conversation.

The next step is to install the extension available for Chrome and Firefox. After installation, you will see Keybase icons on different social networking sites.

Suppose you have linked your Twitter profile. You can access the Twitter profile of any user and click the Keybase chat button to start the encrypted conversation. You will need to let them know you sent them messages using Keybase and that message will wait until they set up. When using this application, you can also share files, turn on notifications, and add members to create group chats. You will need to open the Keybase application to send messages via social networking sites.

Keybase also provides users with applications on Android and iOS. Of course, you can start the conversation directly from the Keybase application if you know the Keybase username in your contacts.

All messages sent with Keybase are encrypted from start to finish and it is not possible for this application to view your messages.
