Custom GPT is the least noticed feature of ChatGPT
You can get a lot out of ChatGPT by providing simple prompts, but sometimes it's worth going beyond that. Custom GPT is a popular feature in the app, and even if you don't use any other ChatGPT tools, many people will sign up just for it.
Why do people like Custom GPT?
Before I show you how I use Custom GPT, let's take a quick look at some of the biggest reasons you should use Custom GPT.
1. No additional familiarization time
Many people are always happy to try new features and applications. They are also willing to face the additional time needed to get used to the tool, if they think it will be useful. However, it is great when you don't have to face this and can get started right away.
You can use Custom GPT the same way you would a regular text prompt. You should still ask ChatGPT to be an expert, but other than that, you don't need to do anything else.
2. The results obtained are more accurate
To be fair, ChatGPT is much more accurate than it was when it first launched. However, when using the regular version of the app, users still get inconsistent results. Furthermore, they are often not as customizable as desired.
On the contrary, you always get more accurate results with Custom GPT. For example, a dedicated Custom GPT is much better at giving you what you want when developing a gym habit than a regular chatbot.
How to use Custom GPT
You can use multiple Custom GPTs to improve your ChatGPT experience. Here are two examples of how to use Custom GPTs.
1. Create a gym plan
To help build a sustainable routine and incorporate enough rest, some people turn to GymStreak Custom GPT. Here's an example prompt:
"I want you to be my gym expert. I currently participate in 3 CrossFit workouts of the day (WODs) per week, but I'm irritable and miserable on the days when I don't exercise. I want you to help me develop a weekly routine that includes one weightlifting session (chest and back as we don't work these in the WOD). My right ankle is also prone to rolling, so I would like to work on my strength for this and general mobility days, I want to do active recovery; I also wish to average 10,000 daily steps".
"I want you to be my gym expert. I currently do 3 CrossFit Workout of the Day (WOD)s per week, but I get cranky and irritable on non-workout days. I want you to help me build a weekly routine that includes a weight training session (chest and back since I don't do those in the WOD). I also have a prolapsed right ankle, so I want to work on strength training for that area and general mobility. On rest days, I want active recovery. I also want to average 10,000 steps per day."
The routine that GymStreak Custom GPT provides is pretty solid, consisting of weight training on Tuesdays and ankle/mobility work on Thursdays.
GymStreak also provides some additional tips to maximize your workout routine.
2. Create a route
Long-term planners sometimes have trouble visualizing how they will achieve their goals. This can be problematic because many of the things you want to achieve are abstract. Planning your goals is one of the many ways you can use ChatGPT. To help you take things to the next level, switch to Roadmap Architect's Custom GPT.
Here is the example prompt given:
'I want to learn Icelandic for fun, and also because I often visit Iceland. I am currently a complete beginner; I can understand very basic words, but nothing more than that. I'm a native English speaker who also understands Danish and Norwegian. I want to be B1 level by the end of 2025. Please give me a roadmap to help'.
Rough translation : 'I want to learn Icelandic for fun and also because I visit Iceland often. I am currently a beginner; I can understand very basic words, but nothing more. I am a native English speaker, know Danish and Norwegian. I want to reach B1 level by the end of 2025. Please give me a roadmap to reach my goal'.
The roadmap provided by Roadmap Architect's Custom GPT is impressive, broken down into stages. The GPT also provides a rough daily routine for review and a comprehensive list of resources. You can use this Custom GPT in your studies, work, and other situations.
Whether you want to learn to code, set your big goals, or get help planning your daily routine, Custom GPT is surprisingly under-the-radar. You should sign up for the premium version of ChatGPT to access them, as well as experiment with different prompts and scenarios.
