One of AirTag's biggest strengths since its launch is its button-operated battery replacement in just seconds. This is perhaps the least "Apple-esque" detail, but it makes perfect sense for a tracking device that needs to operate continuously and minimize downtime.
Overall, initial impressions suggest that AirTag 2 is a gradual, refined upgrade. It's reminiscent of the earlier 'S' iPhone models, where Apple focused on upgrading the internal hardware while maintaining the overall design between generations.
Apple is currently building a small ecosystem around AirTag, based on its massive Find My network, and the ability to share AirTag's location with friends or airlines to track lost luggage.
Although Apple has made virtually no changes to the external design, many people still hope the company will at least offer new color options. But perhaps Apple still wants users to buy the FineWoven Key Ring accessory in various colors, even though the price of this accessory is even higher than an AirTag.
