Along with the new GPU comes a media engine that offers 8K H.264 RAW support, HEVC, ProRes and hardware-accelerated ProRes – along with Mac capable of handling 8K video.

Other new features include 38 trillion operations per second with the M4 Neural Engine, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and more.

Note : Models 128, 256 and 512GB have 8GB RAM, 1TB and 2TB models have 16GB RAM.

Screen

The new iPad Pro M4 models go beyond their predecessors with the new 'XDR Ultra Retina Display'. This is the first product to use Tandem OLED instead of LED/mini-LED of iPad Pro M2 models.

Apple says the benefits of the new OLED display are brighter highlights, deeper true blacks, better detail in shadows and low light, etc.

Both the small and larger iPad Pros get new OLED displays, and you can now also upgrade the 1 or 2TB iPad Pro M4 with nano-textured glass.

SDR content is also brighter at up to 1000 nits for iPad Pro M4 models (600 nits for iPad Pro M2 SDR content).

Display features shared across all M4 and M2 pro models include ProMotion (10-120Hz refresh), P3 wide color, Laminate screen, anti-reflective coating, Apple Pencil Hover and True Tone.

Design, Size, Weight, Color

iPad Pro M4 is 'the thinnest product Apple has ever created' with a thickness of only 5.1 mm for the 13-inch model and 5.3 mm for the 11-inch version.

Along with that, the new iPad Pro M4 is lighter than its predecessor and weighs less than 0.5kg for the 11-inch version and 0.6kg for the 13-inch version.

New this time is the Space Black finish replacing Space Gray for the iPad Pro M4. The remaining choice is still Silver.

Connections and Accessories

The new iPad Pro models work with the same range of Apple accessories: the Magic Keyboard and the new Apple Pencil Pro – or you can opt for the mid-range Apple Pencil with USB-C.

iPad Pro 2024 models with M4 chip have battery life equivalent to their predecessors:

Memory and Price

Storage is tweaked a bit with the iPad Pro M4 starting with 256GB and going up to 2TB. The price is $100 more than the iPad Pro M2 series or $200 more if you add nano-texture glass to the 1 and 2TB models.

On the rear camera system of iPad Pro M4, there is a 12MP wide lens, LiDAR Scanner and Retina flash with True Tone. Interestingly, the iPad Pro M4 has dropped the 10MP ultra-wide lens of the iPad Pro M2.

On the front, there's a 12MP ultra-wide lens with Center Stage support that now focuses on the long horizontal edge instead of the short edge like the iPad Pro 2024 M4 models.
