Cloudflare launches Spectrum, protecting everything that connects to the Internet
For the past 8 years, Cloudflare is still a well-known company that provides website protection services to malicious traffic. Now, they have expanded their protection, from DDoS to all Internet-connected services - like games, email servers, and Internet of Things IoT devices.
The way Spectrum works is quite similar to the familiar products of Cloudflare, which transfers Internet traffic through Cloudflare's global distribution data center.
Cloudflare's software automatically redirects users through the nearest data center (geographically) to provide faster connection speeds. In addition, it also automatically removes traffic that is supposed to be contaminated, as seen in DDoS attacks, to ensure website security.
Spectrum is different from their previous products, because it not only protects the website, but also almost all devices with network connections.
The need for such a tool is certainly not lacking by the past few years of increasing DDoS attacks both in size and severity, and also often targeting new audiences. When launched in 2016, Pokemon Go also suffered DDoS attacks, causing gameplay of millions of people to be temporarily stopped. Later that year, the cyber world also suffered as an attacker targeted Dyn, one of the famous DNS service providers.
A service that protects almost everything with a network connection
In addition to DDoS attack protection and faster network connectivity, Cloudflare also hopes that Spectrum will increase the security of some older software. For example, businesses also use software that does not support transport layer encryption, the Spectrum will automatically protect without compatibility issues.
In the statement, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince said: 'Cloudflare has always focused on improving the Internet experience for users around the world, but so far, we still only protect and accelerate the delivery. Web consciousness. Spectrum is a big step in building a better Internet world when the power of Cloudflare with protocols is expanded on the web '.
Unlike other familiar products, which provide both small and large sites, Spetrum will first serve only large business customers.
