AOL Spyware Protection (ASP) 2.0 includes four different types of detection, operating at intervals of 60 seconds, every 15 minutes, every day or weekly.

America Online provides completely free ASP 2.0, which helps users detect and block security flaws, annoying programs or web monitors.ASP 2.0 has four levels of security against spy and advertising software:

- After every 60 seconds: The detector automatically scans in memory with the ability to format about 15,000 types of spyware and adware that can operate silently in memory (often making the computer work more slowly).

- Every 15 minutes: AOL SpyZapper feature quickly scans for 1 second to detect newly downloaded programs or try to reinstall itself.

- After each day: 'Quick Scan' will automatically scan and identify 28,000 types of spyware and adware.

- After each week: ASP 2.0 will perform a full scan of all users' drives.

AOL Spyware Protection also automatically updates security regularly so that users can fight against threats from the latest spyware and adware.

Users of AOL 9.0 as well as AOL 8.0 will be able to download different versions, users will automatically receive this new version when logging in.ASP 2.0 works based on idle memory usage, so it does not affect the speed of the computer when performing a scan or update.
