Ancient iPhones can still run ChatGPT app
It is now possible to bring ChatGPT to legacy iOS thanks to the efforts of the 'ChatGPT for Legacy iOS' project.
It seems that the old iPhones such as iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPhone 5 running iOS 6 (released 12 years ago) have very little use in the modern technology world. However, a surprising piece of good news has just appeared, with the ability to "revive" these once-famous devices.
An independent developer has created a free application called "ChatGPT for Legacy iOS", allowing users to experience the power of AI assistant ChatGPT right on classic iPhones running on iOS 6. This information quickly attracted the attention of the technology-loving community.
This app is not just a temporary solution but is equipped with many core features of ChatGPT developed by OpenAI. Users can:
- Smart Conversations: Ask questions, brainstorm ideas, get advice, be entertained, or learn new knowledge through natural conversations with AI.
- Remember context: ChatGPT will remember the content of previous conversations, helping users easily follow and develop ideas continuously.
- Image analysis: More amazingly, users can upload photos from their old iPhone for AI to analyze, comment on designs, or explain charts.
- Modern Interface: The developer has built the interface from scratch, giving it a modern feel and promising impressive smoothness even on outdated hardware.
- Convenient sidebar: Quickly access chat history through a sidebar designed to blend in with the main interface.
To install "ChatGPT for Legacy iOS", users can download it directly from the Veteris app store (for legacy iOS) or download it as an .ipa file. However, it should be noted that direct installation requires the device to have AppSync Unified pre-installed. After installation, users will need to log in with an API key obtained from their OpenAI account. The developer also promises to continuously update the app with the latest versions of ChatGPT.
The birth of this application is a testament to the constant creativity of the programming community, bringing new life to seemingly outdated devices and bridging the gap between old hardware and advanced AI software. Now, the iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 can do more than you think.
