But this design affects the cockpit, which is located on the nose. And the engineers had to adjust and supplement the tail section for the cockpit. This inadvertently causes the head of the engine to rise slightly and that is the hump we see today.

Later, Boeing turned the empty space behind the cockpit into a business-class customer with a full bar. But in 1973, the fuel crisis forced Boeing to continue adjusting, removing unnecessary things to add more seats to the cabin.
