Acer is about to stop producing low-cost laptops in Europe

The company will focus on high-end laptop models and cede the low-end segment to its subsidiary, Packard Bell.

Acer representative said it is preparing to discontinue production of low-cost laptops. According to Trusted Reviews, the Taiwanese manufacturer wants to become a premium brand and let Packard Bell dominate the low-cost laptop market. Packard Bell is a big computer brand acquired by Acer in January 2008 with the amount of up to 48.5 million USD

Acer representatives said the company will leave the low-price segment. Currently, both Acer and Packard Bell are competing with each other. Thanks to the new campaign, the company wants to separate these two brands as far away from each other as possible so users don't know what they are related to.

According to Trusted Review, Acer has so far been famous for cheap laptops. In recent times, the company has launched a series of products aimed at the high-end segment like Aspire S3 ultrabook.
