5 Reasons to Buy a Tempered Glass Mouse Pad
A lot of people don't like mouse pads. They're comfortable, but they look kind of tacky. Then they discovered tempered glass mouse pads, and that changed everything.
1. More advanced than regular mouse pads
Most mouse pads are made of fabric (or plastic) and are only slightly larger than the mouse itself. Logitech's Studio series mouse pads are mostly polyester. Mouse pads like these look a little cheap next to an aluminum laptop or 4K monitor.
A tempered glass mouse pad feels premium next to high-end PCs! No matter your budget, a tempered glass mouse pad will ensure your workspace feels premium. You can get one for under $30, as can the regular ones on Amazon.
2. Minimalist look
For many people, using a mouse pad is like dropping a traditional rug into a room full of modern furniture. Most are curved and soft in a sea of straight lines and hard edges. They're often the only piece of fabric on a desk.
Tempered glass mouse pads are made from the same material as the electronics around them. They are also more likely to blend in with the design of your desk. They look like part of the desk rather than something that sits on top of it. This type of mouse pad will blend in better with a glass desk than a wooden one.
3. Is distortion better than nothing?
No mouse pad is perfect, and they do come with their downsides. Many mice can be heard rubbing against the surface of your desk, potentially leaving scratches over time. The cursor can also be a little less precise because the mouse has to work harder to detect which surface it's on.
Despite being made of glass, tempered glass mouse pads still have great traction. These mouse pads are often marketed toward gamers (Razer even makes a tempered glass mouse pad with RGB lighting).
4. Large space for gaming
Tempered glass mouse pads are often large. This provides plenty of room to move your mouse without it slipping off the edge. You can move from one end of the large screen to the other without having to pick up the mouse and reposition it.
When you work full-time at a desk, any comfort and productivity boost is a worthy investment.
5. Works with your current mouse
You don't have to replace your mouse to use a tempered glass mouse pad. I've used two different types of optical mice, and both worked well. After all, you can use an optical mouse directly on a glass desk these days. Mice don't get a lot of attention because they're not very interesting (and rarely need replacing), but they've come a long way.
Mouse pads are also better than we think. You can have a large desk pad that is large enough to hold everything, including your mouse, keyboard, and whatever else. You are not limited by the old standard stuff. You can find a mouse pad that looks and feels as good as the mouse you put on it.
