1. How to check if the computer is missing drivers or not?
How to check for missing drivers: Hold Windows key and press the X key (Windows + X), then select Device Manager . Or you can press Windows key + R, then type devmgmt.msc , press Enter.
If there is no item in Device Manager with a yellow exclamation or a red cross, it means the device is full of drivers.
2. How to install standard Windows 10 driver via Windows Update
Many of you will wonder what Windows update has to do with driver installation? No, Windows Update, apart from the main function of downloading patches to help keep your computer safe. Then it also downloads the missing driver packages (if any) for your computer. So, a couple of things: the computer is both more secure and has a standard (certified) driver installed.
How to: go to Settings (Windows + I), choose Update & Sercurity , then Check for Updates to check for updates.
You just let Windows download the updates, when the installation is complete, select View installed update history.
As shown above, the Widows Update automatically downloaded and successfully installed 8 drivers.
3. How to install the Windows 10 driver from the computer's home page (mainboard)
Driver from the home page of the computer company or mainboard is always the most standard. You should prioritize installing missing drivers from the homepage, absolutely do not use driver update software or driver packages available on the network.
- For a Dell computer: Dell driver support , enter Service Tag (on the bottom of the computer, or turn on cmd and type wmic bios get serialnumber)
- For HP: Hp Support , select identify now to automatically detect your computer.
- For Lenovo / thinkpad: Lenovo Support , select Auto-Detect My Product or type your computer's name in the search box
- For Asus computers: Asus Download Center , enter your model name .
- For a Sony computer: Download Sony computer driver (Model name on the back of the device)
Usually the driver for the Laptop Fn key is to download manually. HP's Fn driver is Hootkey, Dell's Quickset, Asus' ATKACPI driver & ATK hotkey tool . Note that both HP, Dell and Lenovo have the feature to automatically search and install drivers.
4. How to install standard Windows 10 driver by searching manually
Missing or incompatible drivers will appear a yellow exclamation icon in the Other devices section . To find the missing driver, right-click on the line with a yellow exclamation mark and choose Properties .
Select the Details tab > Hardware Ids , right-click the top row of the Value field and choose Copy.
Thus, we have the Id code of the hardware that is missing Driver. Paste this Id into your browser's search to find the missing driver.
In the search results, you should select the results from the home page of your computer company (pictured on HP).
After clicking on the search result link, I found the missing driver as shown above.
