Uruguay, the first country to order a laptop for 100 USD

One Laptop Per Children (OLPC) project initiated by Professor Nicholas Negroponte in 2005 went into production and Uruguay was the first country to order 100,000 units.

The government of this South American country will distribute Laptops to children aged 6-12 years. It is expected that by 2009 Uruguay will order up to 300,000 units to be sufficient for distribution to children nationwide.
