In a stunning display of creativity, 16 humanoid robots from China's leading robotics company Unitree took the spotlight at CCTV's annual Spring Festival Gala.

The robots worked in harmony with 16 dancers to perform the traditional Yangko fan dance, a vibrant folk art form from Northeast China that combines cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology.

One of the most captivating moments was when the robots demonstrated their ability to manipulate handkerchiefs, a signature element of Yangko dance. With precise mechanical arm movements, the robots made the handkerchiefs spin and soar through the air, creating a dazzling visual spectacle that symbolized the perfect fusion of tradition and modernity.

'The robots perform fully automatic position changes on stage and all their dance movements are controlled by AI,' said Wang Qixin, marketing director at Unitree, in an interview with CGTN before the show.
