Amazon is building its first in-house robot
The prototype shows that the robot has a computer vision to determine its direction, and is like a 'mobile Alexa' type.
Bloomberg recently reported that Amazon is developing the first in-house robot. The project was internally named Vesta, after the goddess of Roman warmth, developed by Lab126. This is also Amazon's hardware development research center that previously created Kindle, Fire Phone and Echo.
It is unclear what Amazon's robot looks like or what its purpose is, but according to Bloomberg , it will be like a 'mobile Alexa', following users to places in the house, in places where They cannot directly control with Echo speakers.
This prototype of Amazon's robot is thought to use computer vision software and cameras to orient. The company is also planning to bring in 'breeding equipment' to employees' homes by the end of the year. According to Bloomberg, the public can try these prototypes 'as early as 2019'.
With this information, it's hard to know exactly what Amazon is planning to do, but maybe not for housework. Technology for this type of device is currently not available in commercial environments.
Indoor robots promise many possibilities in the future
The fact that 'indoor robots' often means virtual assistants resides in a device shape. Many of these devices have been revealed in recent years, such as LG's Jub Bot, Mayfield Robotics's Kuri or Jibo robots, which look a lot like Pixar's logo. They all aim to act as a central point, the interaction between users and smart home devices.

So mobile Alexa can be useful for both Amazon and users. Their virtual assistant can set foot in a more private life, the information gained can help Alexa work better.
