Unboxing Honor Magic V: 5 times the price of Nokia X10. sharp design like Galaxy Z Fold3

Honor Magic V is the first folding screen smartphone launched in 2022 and the third to appear within the last 6 months. When the folding smartphone market is still not too crowded, Honor Magic V with OPPO Find N and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 create a market trio. Let's open the box and have a quick look at what's special about Honor Magic V.

Honor Magic V is housed in a large black box that feels luxurious and modern. The box feels like a movie poster with a lot of promise inside.

The box opens by folding, inside, we will get the body and accessories at first glance.

Users will receive the body and a series of accessories such as a charging cable, a car charger, a user manual and a special case. This case only covers the back of Honor Magic V when folded.

The main character Honor Magic V, has a simple metallic gray color but feels solid and luxurious. When folded, this phone looks like a regular smartphone. 

The external screen of Honor Magic V uses a 21: 9 aspect ratio with a diagonal size of 6.45 inches slightly larger than that of the Galaxy Z Fold3 (25: 9 aspect ratio of 6.2 inches). This gives the same feeling of use as a regular smartphone, which promises to be more comfortable than the folding screen competitor from Samsung. The punch-hole here is the 48MP camera.

When unfolded, Honor Magic V has a screen size of up to 7.9 inches. This screen is equipped with notable parameters such as using a 7.9-inch flexible OLED panel, has a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2272 x 1984px. The aspect ratio here is 10.3:9, divided into two areas roughly equal to the previous screen.

Users also get a range of support such as HDR10+, 10bit color as well as a maximum brightness of 800 nits. Honor Magic V is also the first foldable device to receive IMAX Enhanced certification. All are superior to competitors like Galaxy Z Fold3 or OPPO Find N. Similar to the outer screen, the inner folding screen also uses a 48MP camera in the right-skewed hole.

Honor Magic V is equipped with a 3-lens module cluster on the back with 50MP resolution. Those are the main lenses, the secondary ultra-wide lenses and the spectral lenses that support portrait photography.

As a later device, the Honor Magic V stands out from the competition in terms of performance. It is equipped with the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip available today while other folding competitors only use Snapdragon 888. It also comes with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB memory options. Right out of the box, Honor Magic V is covered with Magic UI 6.0 based on Android 12.
