This Vietnamese developer extension will help you understand how Facebook tracks you
Do Thi Duc Hang is a German-based designer and programmer. Recently, she has released a software that helps you understand what Facebook knows about you.
Hang's tool is called Data Selfie, which works in the same way that Facebook still learns about you. It collects information not only every time you like, click, read or post, but also through the way you scroll through the News Feed but still respect your privacy.
And this is what you see through the data that Data Selfie collects to help you get a better idea of what Facebook can know about you.
- Your last online visit.
- The total time you use Facebook.
- An active timeline to tell you more about the interactions you have ever done
- Based on the amount of time you spend reading, see what they post to list your top pages, your close friends.
- Likes for posts, photos or videos.
- Aspects of personality, activity level and health, shopping preferences as well as religious and political beliefs.
Data Selfie uses IBM Watson to process natural language and Cambridge University's API machine learning to convert this data into statistics and report details to users. And more importantly, to ensure the data warehouse has been collected as well as to ensure user privacy, the data that this tool collects is only stored locally on your computer and not upload to cloud storage.
