This is Samsung's folding phone

Samsung started the 2018 development conference by introducing Infinity Flex Display. The future of folding equipment is here.

Samsung has leaked information about their folded phones for weeks, but today is the first time they have specifically revealed this much-awaited device. Samsung calls the technology on its folded phone Infinity Flex Display, a phone the size of a tablet and foldable and put into a pocket.

Samsung introduced its developer conference phone, and turned off the light to protect the phone design. 'There's a phone in here,' said Justin Denison, Samsung's senior vice president of mobile product marketing. 'And it's great.'

Denison then held up the tablet-shaped device and folded it like a candy bar. The device has an external screen like a phone and also has a 7.3-inch screen like a tablet.

Up to 3 applications can run simultaneously, using the technology that Samsung calls multi-window operation. Samsung said it would start mass-producing Infinity Flex Display in the next few months but not to say exactly when users could see it with their own hands.

Denison also spoke briefly about the technology behind Infinity Flex Display, the way it resists when folded / opened.

Google also officially supports these new folding devices with the Android OS and works closely with Samsung to launch phones next year. Google also supports developers using existing features, including Android to support these folding screens.

Samsung is not the only phone manufacturer to offer a folding phone. Huawei is also known to plan to launch folding equipment next year. Lenovo and Xiaomi also launched prototype teasers, LG is developing flexible OLED displays and TVs can be rolled into boxes.

Microsoft will even release a multi-screen device, probably the modern version of Courier. Previously, Microsoft Surface Panos chief Panay also revealed that the fold-down Surface is also 'my child'. Manufacturers who may not have heard the name are also testing the phone folding device like a tablet, so perhaps 2019 will be the year to witness many products of this type.
