These are two new apps that will be installed by default on Windows 11 soon

Microsoft has just announced the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22572 for users to test on the Dev channel.

This update comes with an interesting change: 2 new tools are being converted into Inbox apps, which means they will come pre-installed on all Windows 11 PCs.

On the Home edition of Windows 11, Microsoft Family will now become a pre-installed application on the operating system. For all other versions of Windows 11, Microsoft's Clipchamp video editing application will also be pre-installed by default. However, these two applications will not be a core component of the Windows operating system, meaning users can still uninstall them if they want.

Microsoft Family is basically a smart content management utility. Through this app, users can set up parental controls to filter inappropriate apps and games, and install kid-friendly websites for Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Family also helps with device time management across Windows, Xbox, and Android. In addition, this app also allows family members to stay connected even when apart with location tracking. Microsoft Family is shaping up to be part of the Windows 11 multi-user interactive experience.

Clipchamp is a video editing application developed by Microsoft that focuses mainly on making video creators easy, fast and fun. Clipchamp is equipped with all the basic video editing tools you need. In addition, for real-time recording of content, there is also a built-in webcam and screen recorder. The lack of video editing applications has long been considered a 'defect' of Windows. With Clipchamp pre-installed as a default application on Windows 11, this drawback has been completely overcome.

It should be noted that Microsoft Family and Clipchamp becoming the default applications on Windows 11 are currently only being tested on the Dev channel. Things can change over time, get deleted or replaced in subsequent builds, or may never be officially released.
