The personal computer market dropped by 6% in 2014
According to research results published by IDC yesterday (June 3), sales of the global personal computer market will decline by 6% this year.
This less optimistic forecast draws on the gloomy picture of the PC market of 2013 with sales falling to 9.8%, as consumers turn to mobile devices like tablets and smartphone
Another research result conducted by BI Intelligence shows that, on average, every 5 people in the world have 1 smartphone owner.
While many people are referring to the " post-PC " era, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella even said he was prepared for the " post-PC post-production " period.
IDC's prediction is based on sales from stores, manufacturers and user surveys. The company said that in 2014 there will be 296.3 million computers sold worldwide, down sharply from 315.1 million units in 2013. IDC even said that by 2018 sales Global PC market is only 287.3 million units.
Compared to the previous forecast, IDC has adjusted slightly from a 6.1% drop to 6% due to the passing signals from the Western European market recently.
