Slashdot.com has just extracted a hidden source about some of the new features that Apple intends to bring to the Macbook Pro that are about to be introduced in April.

Accordingly Apple will completely refresh the Macbook Pro line, including design. And many points will follow the Macbook Air Apple just introduced not too long ago. SSD may be replaced HDD and capacity up to 512GB. The optical drive is more likely to be removed from some machine options. And most importantly, Light Peak communication will be used by Apple on these new models.

Light Peak is Intel's newly developed connection standard and officially launched last year. Based on the optical connection Light Peak has a speed of 10Gbps ie about double USB 3.0 and 20 times the current USB 2.0. In the past IDF Intel said the following year (2011) will have the first Light Peak integration product. Light Peak is the most powerful reason that Intel has so far not supported USB3.0. Engadget once said Apple was the inventor of Light Peak and asked Intel to do it, but then Cnet led a source saying that Intel has introduced Light Peak technology to many companies and Apple is the only company that supports the technology of Intel.

SSD replaces HDD: Apple has done this on the Macbook Air it introduced last month and it hasn't encountered much trouble. What SSDs bring to the computer can be seen at the end of the video below. The only barrier of SSD is the high price. But if the number of orders is large, it is likely that Apple will have a good price and we will pay some part of the price.

No optical drive: The optical drive has become a standard in notebooks. However, with the development of flash storage formats, the ability of optical drive to follow the path of the floppy drive is entirely possible. There are quite a lot of laptops that have optical drive. Apple can do the same thing.
