In the gloomy context of the entire corporation, Sony Mobile is making solid steps to return to success.
Sony started the fiscal year from March 2013 - March 2014 with the goal of reaching 46 million smartphones. By the end of the last fiscal year, Sony's actual smartphone numbers were only 39.1 million units.
However, despite a shortage of nearly 7 million smartphones compared to the initial output forecast, Sony has shown a strong acceleration in the high-end and mid-range smartphone market. As a result, even though the entire Sony conglomerate was in trouble, Sony Mobile's mobile division almost escaped from the loss and earned some profits.
This year, Sony Mobile plans to ship a total of 50 million smartphones. The leaked information indicates that Sony has hired 3 Taiwanese manufacturers to process a total of 25 million units (about half of the total yearly output) . Of the three Taiwanese companies mentioned above, Arima Communications will not only process but also design and produce 10-12 million 3G and 4G smartphones directly.
