Samsung Display will stop making LCD screens by the end of 2020
Well-known Korean panel manufacturer, Samsung Display, decided to stop producing liquid crystal display panels (LCDs) in Korea and China later this year.
Samsung Display, a division of South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, said last October that it had stopped one of its two LCD production lines in its home country amid demand for the panel. LCD is declining and the number of LCD panel suppliers in the market is too crowded.
" We will be supplying LCD panels ordered to customers later this year, " the company said.
Last October, LCD panel supplier Apple Inc. said it would invest 13.1 trillion won (about $ 10.72 billion) in factories and research to upgrade its production line. in the context of coping with an oversupply situation while the demand on the global smartphone and TV markets is too low.

Samsung will focus on QLED displays
The investment for the next five years will be focused on transforming one of its LCD lines in South Korea into a much more advanced "quantum dot" series factory.
Samsung Display currently operates two LCD production lines at factories in Korea and two factories specializing in LCD in China.
Samsung has yet to decide on the future of LCD production at its factories in China. Meanwhile, fellow Samsung Display rival LG Display Co Ltd said earlier this year that it would stop producing LCD TV panels domestically by the end of 2020.
