Proton Sheets Launches: An Encrypted Spreadsheet to Replace Excel and Google Sheets

Proton is already known as a privacy-first technology company, with a variety of services such as VPN, secure email, cloud storage, password manager, authentication app, AI chatbot. And now they continue to expand the ecosystem with Proton Sheets - an end-to-end encrypted spreadsheet tool, aimed at users who want better data protection than Excel or Google Sheets.

There's a joke that the world runs on Excel files. And that's… not far off. Countless businesses and industries rely on Excel or Google Sheets every day. Proton believes it's time for a more secure solution that won't be fed data to AI training, won't be tracked, and won't be leaked. The company even cites Google's official support document, which advises against putting sensitive data in Sheets, as it could be used to train Gemini or accessed by human moderators.
