Predicted information about Nothing Phone (3)
2024 is off to a good start with the launch of Nothing Phone (2a). Nothing also recently launched its latest audio product Ear and Ear(a), and the time when the company usually launches its new flagship Nothing Phone is also approaching. Although there is no official information about the Nothing Phone (3), the current market and smartphone trends allow us to speculate what the specifications of the Phone (3) will be.
Expected launch date
Phone (2) launched last July, followed by Phone (2a) launched last March. With Phone (2a)'s good sales figures, Nothing will most likely launch Phone (3) in September or October.
Which Snapdragon will be in Nothing Phone (3)?
One of the main questions on many people's minds since the release of the Phone (2a) is which Qualcomm Nothing processor should be chosen for the Phone (3). With the latest Snapdragon SoC releases, the answer to this problem has become clearer. Nothing Phone (3) will likely feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. As noted in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs 8s Gen 3 comparison, the former has a better multi-core score while the latter is power efficient slightly.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is significantly older than the 8s Gen 3, but it's uncertain whether it will still cost more than the 8s Gen 3.
Design
It can be said that Nothing's design philosophy has had a positive impact and they may have achieved what they wanted with Phone (1) and (2).
There are no clues or speculations about the design, other than the obvious specs that the Phone (3) will have a transparent back and retain the Glyph interface.
Camera
Both Phone (1) and Phone (2) have dual rear cameras, where the main camera is wide-angle and the secondary camera is ultra-wide.
One of the most anticipated features on the Nothing Phone (3) is probably the addition of a Telephoto lens, either by replacing the ultra-wide lens or adding a third camera. Whether Nothing will listen to this request remains to be seen.
Battery and charger
Nothing Phone (2) has a 4,700 mAh battery and the ability to charge at 45W. Phone (2a) has a larger 5,000 mAh battery. So the Phone (3) could have a 5,000 mAh battery and increase the charging speed from 45W to 65 or 67W. We should also see improvements in wireless charging speeds.
Software and connectivity
Nothing OS 3.0 is in development and is expected to launch with Nothing Phone (3). Some information predicts that it will improve the Quick Settings panel to bring a Nothing-like interface. The company asked users to give feedback on how they would like the console to be revamped.
Additionally, Nothing is developing library and community apps that will likely be part of Nothing OS 3.0.
Memory and RAM
According to predictions, Phone (3) will have 3 variants 8GB + 128GB, 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. Nothing will not consider moving to UFS 4.0 to keep costs low. Therefore, hopefully the company will retain UFS 3.1 and LPDDR5X RAM on these variants.
Color options and prices
Nothing will probably stick to two classic colors - White and Gray (or a slightly lighter or darker Gray). They could launch a new color scheme like they did with the Phone (2a) but it's all just speculation for now.
Pricing is also expected to remain the same, which is $699 for the base model. For now, Nothing still needs to strengthen its grip on the market and that can only be done by keeping Phone prices the same (3).
