Microsoft has revealed its first achievements in the plan to provide a Windows Server update every two years by revealing the first version of this operating system.

Windows Server Insider Preview Build 16237 adds many features emphasizing Microsoft's passion for micro services, SDX (software-defined-everything) .

New features allow Hyper-V virtual machines to access static electrical memory, upgrade networks between containers, and various advantages that reduce the size of Windows Core to one-fifth. Windows Nano Server is also smaller because it cuts off WMI, PowerShell, .NET Core and ServiceStack.

The Battery Passthrough feature allows your virtual machines to own the same battery status as the server is on.

Another noteworthy point in this release is that Microsoft applies virtual machine security technology to both Linux customers.

This first Insider release is notable because in September, the features offered will combine with the first version of Microsoft on the Windows Server Semi-annual Channel. You will see new versions of Windows Server appear twice a year on this channel, but only support 18 months. Such releases will focus on cloud and container use. The Long-Term Servicing Channel will update every 3 years, reflecting the current update of Windows Server and attracting long-term support.

Microsoft also started supporting Windows Server 2016 for the Azure backup service, which shows that virtual machines are mirrored into the cloud for backup or failover. An update for Azure Backup will also support vSphere 6.5 virtualization software. ®.
