The new Claude Interactive Visuals is the best feature the app has ever had.

For those who learn visually, the most interesting feature is often the least noticed: Interactive Visuals.

Anthropic, the developer behind Claude, is one of the most active AI companies recently.

In just the past few weeks, the company has announced Code Review, Claude Marketplace, Connectors, Remote Control in Claude Code, and Scheduled Tasks in Claude Cowork . But for visual learners, the most interesting feature is the one that receives the least attention: Interactive Visuals.

What is Claude Interactive Visuals?

This isn't just a rebranded Artifacts feature.

Anthropic announced Interactive Visuals on March 12, 2026, as an extension of Imagine with Claude, a provisional experience the company introduced in late 2025. This new feature allows Claude to create charts, diagrams, and illustrations directly within the conversation. Claude builds them using HTML , meaning they are not static images and you can interact with them directly. Custom visual responses are now available to all Claude users in the web and desktop beta. They are not available on Claude for iOS or Android.

If your first thought after reading the above is, 'Didn't Claude already create diagrams?', that makes perfect sense. Claude has had an Artifacts feature since June 2024 that lets you 'turn ideas into apps, tools, or shareable content'. For example, you might notice that when you ask Claude to write an essay, it opens the document in a separate panel on the right, where you can edit, copy, or download it as a standalone file. That's exactly what an Artifact does. Beyond essays, Artifacts can be code snippets, single-page HTML web pages, SVG images, diagrams, or even fully interactive React components.

Unlike Artifacts, which are designed to be standalone outputs, Interactive Visuals are more conversational. Claude automatically generates them when it determines that images will explain something better than text alone. Instead of opening in a separate panel, the images appear directly in the middle of paragraphs within Claude's response.

A dream come true for those with an intuitive mindset.

If you've ever been distracted while someone is explaining something, or while reading instructions but instantly grasped a diagram, you'll immediately understand what Interactive Visuals does. This feature is equivalent to someone quickly tearing off a piece of paper to draw a diagram while they're explaining something. Except here, the diagram is completely interactive and engaging. Here are a few examples used to test this feature:

Visualizing digital logic circuits

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been incredibly helpful in understanding complex concepts during the learning process. While writing this, the author had a test for one of the courses this semester: Logic and Digital Design. One of the first things to try with this feature was creating interactive visuals for the course.

First, the author asks Claude, 'How do logic gates work?' and it will provide a standard written explanation, with an image right in the middle of the answer. However, it's a static image, so the author changes his question to, 'Show me how logic gates work.' Claude will build an interactive logic gate playground with toggleable inputs to see the output change in real time—quite impressive!

Learn about different types of Matcha and how to prepare them.

Matcha has recently become a trend. Therefore, many people want to learn how to make matcha at home. However, they struggle to understand all the different types of matcha, equipment, and brewing methods. Since they haven't had time to thoroughly research or watch YouTube videos on this topic, some people decided to send the following request to Claude:

When the author submitted the request, Claude created a visual "Overview of Matcha Types" that analyzed the different types of matcha, their flavors, and which type was best suited for which purpose. It showed ceremonial, premium, and culinary matcha, even including price ranges for each type.

Next, it includes illustrations of the brewing tools, categorizing the four tools by texture, difficulty, and cleanup. Then, it outlines the latte brewing method in a visual diagram and even highlights the method it considers best. Finally, Claude created a visual representation of the 'basic setup,' detailing the suggested setup, the recipe to follow, along with expert tips for a rich matcha flavor.

Then, the author submitted another request: 'Let me switch between the settings to see what I need and how the results differ!' and it created an interactive widget where the author could flip through 4 settings and compare everything side-by-side.
