In April, it was reported that Microsoft was encouraging users to share their thoughts on the redesigned Office icons—the first refresh in seven years (the last logo change was in late 2018). While we wait for more details from Microsoft, one user decided to take matters into their own hands and create a high-resolution version of the icons that Microsoft shared for feedback.
Reddit user u/Thunder_Ruler0 posted his creation on the r/Windows11 forum. Of course, these are not official icons from Microsoft and they are not perfect. According to the author, these icons were created by editing the "leaked icons", shrinking them, enlarging them, and recreating them using DALLE-3. The whole process took about 2 hours, and the author said he will not spend any more time perfecting them.
Basically, this is a project for those 'impatient' users who can't wait for Microsoft to release a new Office icon set. However, since there has been no official announcement from Microsoft, it is highly unlikely that we will see this icon set released to the public. Or perhaps Microsoft will release a slightly modified version. Therefore, this unofficial icon set could become a unique customization.
Notably, the icon set features a yellow Outlook logo—a nod to Microsoft's original Outlook icon, which evolved over time into the blue envelope we see today. Many also agree that the yellow version fits Outlook better than the blue one.
You can download the entire icon set via this Google Drive link . Note that you will need to convert the PNG format to ICO in order to set these icons as app icons.
