Microsoft is about to stop supporting Windows 11 version 23H2 (Sun Valley 3)

While all the attention is focused on the official end of support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, many people may forget that many other Microsoft products are also reaching the end of their useful lives. Recently, Microsoft reminded that Windows 11 version 23H2 is only 3 months away from being discontinued.

According to the document just posted on the Microsoft Learn page, Windows 11 version 23H2 will officially stop being supported from November 11, 2025. This version will be released in October 2023 with the standard 2-year support cycle of Windows 11. After that time, Windows 11 23H2 will no longer receive security updates and new features, forcing users to upgrade to a newer version such as Windows 11 24H2 or the upcoming 25H2.

The announcement from Microsoft states:

Windows 11 Home and Pro version 23H2 will end support on November 11, 2025. This version was released in October 2023. After this date, the device will no longer receive security patches. Customers who contact Microsoft Support will be guided to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11 to continue to be supported.

However, it is important to note that this announcement only applies to certain editions. Consumer SKUs of Windows are supported for 24 months from the date of release, while Commercial editions are supported for 36 months.

Therefore, 11/11/2025 marks the end of support for the following versions:

  1. Windows 11 Professional

  2. Professional Education

  3. Professional for Workstations

  4. Home

  5. SE (SE version will be completely discontinued in October 2026, and will not be upgraded to Windows 11 25H2).

Additionally, Microsoft has also announced a full list of products that will be ending support this year — not just versions of Windows, but also many other Office apps, services, and tools.
