Microsoft confirms that Windows 11 22H2 has reduced performance when copying large files

Microsoft has just confirmed another issue with the latest version of Windows 11 that has just been released.

Ned Pyle, Principal Program Manager of Microsoft's Windows Server engineering team, just made a post in the Tech Community forum to warn users. According to Ned, performance will be reduced when copying large files from a remote computer to a computer running Windows 11 22H2.

Ned said that Windows 11 22H2 users can experience up to a 40% reduction in throughput via SMB when copying large files, several gigabytes or more in size. This error does not affect the original version of Windows 11, so if you do not update to the latest version, you will not be affected.

Another interesting thing is that this bug is not limited to SMB, meaning users may notice performance drops even when copying files locally.

While Microsoft investigates the cause and finds a workaround, affected users can use robocopy or xcopy with the /J parameter to restore lost performance.

Hopefully Microsoft will come up with a solution soon.

Previously, Microsoft also admitted that the Windows 11 22H2 update caused printer errors, causing some printers to lose features such as color correction, duplex printing, paper size settings.

Devices at risk of printer-related errors that have not been updated will be blocked from updating Windows 11 22H2 until Microsoft finds a solution. Windows 11 22H2 also has compatibility problems with the Intel Smart Sound Technology driver and Microsoft also has to block updates for computers with this driver.
