List of devices that support iOS 14, iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, tvOS 14 and macOS Big Sur
The Worldwide Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), one of Apple's biggest annual technology events, takes place. And as iFan expected, a series of new hardware innovations and software updates were released, including iOS 14, iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, tvOS 14 and macOS Big Sur. .
As usual, what most users are concerned about is whether their device will be supported to update to the new operating system version. Specific information will be listed shortly below.
WWDCiPhone is upgraded to iOS 14
There is good news for iOS users. iOS 14 will be able to be installed on all devices supported by iOS 13 - a 'cumulative' encounter in Apple's tradition. The full list includes:
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone SE (1st generation)
- iPhone SE (2nd generation)
- iPod touch (7th generation)
iPadOS 14
The same good news for iPadOS users. Apple has not retired any new iPads. This is interesting because Apple only ended support for an iPad last year. The A8 processor will still be supported on iPads, but iPhones won't. Thus, it can be seen that the iPad is gradually supporting the life cycle more like a PC. IPad models that will be upgraded to iPadOS 14 include:
- All iPad Pro models
- iPad 5th generation and above
- iPad Mini 4 and above
- iPad Air 2 and above
watchOS 7
There will be two variants of Apple Watch that will no longer be supported to upgrade to watchOS 7, which is Series 1 and Series 2. Note that both variants include the same CPU. List of supported models includes:
- Apple Watch Series 3
- Apple Watch Series 4
- Apple Watch Series 5
tvOS 14
As usual, nothing will change here. Both Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K are supported to upgrade to tvOS 14.
macOS Big Sur
If you own a long-purchased Mac, you should pay attention to this list. Last year's MacOS 10.15 Catalina has supported Macs since mid-2012 launch and this year, the support round will only reach models shipped from 2013 to the maximum. Here is the full list:
- MacBook - 2015 and above
- MacBook Air - 2013 and above
- MacBook Pro - Late 2013 onwards
- Mac mini - 2014 and above
- iMac - 2014 and above
- iMac Pro - 2017 and above
- Mac Pro - 2013 and above
Products that are no longer supported to update to the new version will risk facing many compatibility issues, performance and especially security. Therefore, you should consider upgrading to newer products if necessary.
