Kaspersky is officially banned in the US

This decision by President Biden's administration will significantly affect users and businesses.

The ban on Kaspersky will take full effect on September 29, 2024, and includes "new restrictions on the import and sale of Kaspersky software, and a ban on downloading software updates, selling re-license and license the product." Users and businesses have a 100-day period to look for viable alternatives for their computers and laptops.

For new sales, applicable to products using Kaspersky services at the platform, the ban will take effect 30 days from the date of notification. This means that users will no longer see Kaspersky products on store shelves or on e-commerce platforms.

In addition, Kaspersky Lab will also be included in the commercial restrictions list.

This ban could cause some big problems for Kaspersky itself and companies that have relied on Kaspersky services for many years. Currently, the brand has not responded to the above ban even though the situation for Kaspersky is becoming difficult.

The reason the US government issued the above ban is fear that Kaspersky's software could be used for malicious purposes due to its relationship with Russia and the current political situation.

US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said the US government is concerned that Russian companies like Kaspersky could collect and turn Americans' personal information into weapons.
