From a previous large-scale Norwegian population study, Dr. Eleni Papadopoulou, the leader of the research team, analyzed collected data regarding mothers and young children during and after pregnancy.
The study was conducted on 45,389 pairs of mother and child through a questionnaire about the habit of using the phone. Children are monitored for nervous system development between the ages of 3-5 and language and motor skills assessment exercises.
The results showed that, compared to children whose parents did not use the phone during pregnancy, babies born to mothers who used phones had a 31% lower risk of language development, less difficulty. with complex sentences lower than 27%, grammar is 14% and motor skills are 18%.
Even if the research team adjusted a number of other factors related to the level of phone use shared by mothers, the above results are still accurate.
According to Dr. Papadopoulou, the results of experimental studies in animals about harm caused by electromagnetic fields from wireless, from phones are inconsistent. He supports the hypothesis that using a phone during pregnancy can adversely affect a child's language, communication and mobility.
Even the research results show that when pregnant mothers use phones, the risk of language delay and motor skills in the first 3 years of children decreases significantly. According to experts, the possibility of interactions between the mother and the baby in the abdomen increases when the mother uses the phone.
However, the beneficial effects of the phone that the research team analyzed need to be studied more carefully.
Anyway, this team's findings partly help ease mothers' anxiety when using the phone during pregnancy.
This research is published in the journal BMC Public Health. But this study is only done by a few units, does not exclude certain effects on research results.
Although we are not pregnant, we should not overdo smartphones, which can lead to insomnia or loss of focus on other things.
