How to replace AirTag battery
How to replace AirTag's battery
No need to worry about your AirTag draining its battery without your knowledge. It's easy to check your AirTag's battery life using the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad.
You will also receive notifications from the app when the AirTag battery is low and needs to be replaced.
Note: Your AirTag, the battery cover, and the battery itself are all choking hazards. So, make sure you change the AirTag battery when children are not around.
To start, place the AirTag white side down on a flat surface where the stainless steel battery cover is visible. Press down on the battery cover and rotate counterclockwise until it stops rotating. Then, remove both the cover and the battery.
You will need to replace the newly available CR2032 lithium 3V coin cell battery. These batteries are widely available in many stores and online.
As stated in Apple's support documentation, some CR2032 batteries with a bitterant coating may not work with the AirTag. So, it's best to avoid those when looking for a replacement battery.
Place the battery in the AirTag with the positive side facing you. You will hear a chime sound when you twist the back cover back to its original position to confirm that you have placed the battery in the AirTag properly.
Now, take the battery cover and confirm that the 3 protruding edges on the battery cover line up with the 3 slots on your AirTag. Then, rotate the battery cover clockwise until it stops.
As you can see, replacing the Apple AirTag battery only takes a minute or two. Hopefully this article has helped you get your tracking device back up and running so you can use it when you need to find your belongings. Now that your tracker is equipped with a new battery, learn how to make your AirTag more useful.
