HMD Global developed Nokia 9.2 using SD865 chip
HMD Global will stop developing Nokia 9.1 to focus on Nokia 9.2 using SD865 chip.
According to recent information, HMD Global is preparing to launch a series of smartphones at MWC 2020, stopping developing Nokia 9.1 to focus on Nokia 9.2 using Snapdragon 865 chip.
From the NokiaPowerUser information page, this discontinuation will determine the non-launch of Nokia 9.1 at MWC 2020 and disappoint many people while waiting for the next Nokia flagship. Based on previous HMD Global moves, this information is also accurate when the Finnish company usually did not launch its flagships with the latest processors at the right time and could be delayed from 4-5 months.
The discontinuation of Nokia 9.1 will focus on the launch of Nokia 9.2 in the first half of 2020. This Nokia 9.2 version will use the flagship without Light camera technology as the original versions. Currently this information has not been confirmed by HMD Global, but the Nokia 9 PureView version does not support that camera technology, so HMD Global tends to not cooperate with partners anymore.
Instead HMD Global will switch to partnering with Toshiba, the old partner very familiar with Nokia earlier to launch the camera sensor for Nokia 9.2 PureView. Of course all information is only a prediction and we still have to wait and see the official information from HMD Global.
