Google is about to launch Android 9 Pie (Go Edition) for low-end smartphones
Last year, Google launched Android 8 Oreo (Go Edition) and since then there have been more than 200 different smartphones running this operating system. Following that success, Google recently announced that it will soon release Android 9 Pie (Go Edition). The Go version of the Android 9 Pie operating system will be designed with a few enhancements to run on mid-range and low-cost smartphones, making them a little worse.
Besides other enhancements, Android 9 Pie (Go Edition) also adds security features and the ability to monitor data consumption on the device.
Google revealed that low-profile devices will boot faster if using Android 9 Pie (Go Edition).
Compared to Android 8 Oreo (Go Edition), Android 9 Pie (Go Edition) also uses less than 500 MB of storage. With a smartphone with storage capacity of only 4 GB, this number means that users will have 12.5% more capacity for applications, videos, photos, and documents .
