Yahoo! Messenger, a chat service that has been associated with hundreds of millions of Vietnamese users, will be officially closed permanently from July 17. After that time, users will not be able to access any Yahoo applications or services.
Yahoo! Messenger, a chat service that has been associated with hundreds of millions of Vietnamese users, will be officially closed permanently from July 17. After that time, users will not be able to access any Yahoo applications or services.
Oath said only a small part of the messaging group (chat group) will be redirected to the messaging application the company is testing named Squirrel. This new messaging application is currently in beta but not yet officially released.
While not announcing the cause of this service closure, with the growth of Messenger, Snapchat, WeChat, and Facebook messaging apps, many people can understand why Yahoo! Messenger is 'dead'.
First launched on March 9, 1998 as Yahoo! Pager, then renamed officially to Yahoo! Messenger. As of the closing date of July 17, 2018, the chat service has existed for 20 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Oath said users who keep memories on Yahoo! Messenger, you can visit the address below to download the full chat content within 6 months from the closing date.
