Viruses spread through Yahoo! Messenger re-exported
A worm that infects Yahoo! Messenger has reappeared as a dangerous new variant.
BitDefender security experts have warned Palevo.FP worm to spread via Yahoo! Messenger, the most popular chat application in Vietnam, has just launched a new version. This version has begun to spread widely, through a wave of spam on Yahoo! Messenger. Similar to the previous version, the worm automatically sends messages to Yahoo! Messenger watching a photo on a very popular Facebook social network.
If you accidentally click on the image, instead of seeing the image, the user will get a new version of the Palevo Worm.P2P.Palevo.FP virus. Once it gets into the operating system, this Palevo version changes firewall settings that allow attackers to control compromised computers.
Compared to previous versions, this version is much more dangerous. Palevo.FP is added to disable the Microsoft Windows automatic update service, pushing the operating system into the risk of being attacked by other viruses and errors not patched in time.
Users can check if the worm's computer is not via QuickScan tool on BitDefender website (http://bitdefender.com or http://www.malwarecity.com)
